Ireland is rich in culture and tradition. Cappoquin is no exception. We have a wealth of talented artists, actors and musicians among us who currently lack a suitable venue to present their talents to their community.
The sports hall converts to a theatre with a permanent large stage and seating for over 300. It will be the setting to showcase talent from both our community and communities around the country. Whether you or your child act in a play, enjoy a music lesson or visit an art exhibition this element of the community centre will benefit everybody.
We can look forward to such events as plays performed by local actors or visiting groups. Music performances by local national or international musicians, art exhibitions in the Gallery. Drama, music, art and creative writing workshops and lessons for children and adults.
"A busy and brave town, full of energy and spirit, Cappoquin has always produced poets and scholars. It was in this place that Padraig Benn translated the New Testament; that Michael Cavanagh produced his beautiful elegies of The Blackwater.
Artists: such as Brendan Bowyer, John Kenny, Tommy Fleming, The Three Tenors, The Garda Band & Pat Shortt have performed in Cappoquin. There have been 1 act plays from The Everyman Theatre, 'Playing Burton' and coming in 2010 Brendan Grace and Christy Moore.
